[m]3 will feature some new and exciting ways to interact with multimedia. A Live Blogging Lounge will be set up in the Foo Family Lounge in the Frohnmayer Music Building. The concert will also feature QR codes, which can be scanned using a camera phone to reveal more information about the event.

See our live blog from the event here:

Please bring your smart phone or computer and get ready to scan codes, tweet, blog, take and upload pictures, and generally have fun online!

What is Live Blogging?

Live blogging is when an event, such as a concert or conference, is reported online through posts in real time.  Short posts, longer blog entries, tweets, photos, and videos can all be uploaded onto a live feed through a common online conversation tag.  It allows for an online conversation to accompanies the event, especially useful for larger conferences or concerts where talking is discourages.  Live blogging also allows people who cannot physically attend the event to participate online.

What is a QR code?

A QR code, short for Quick Response code, is a two-dimensional matrix barcode that can be scanned and read through a camera phone using a QR code reader.  It consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background.  QR codes can encrypt all kinds of data, from text to urls to photos.  Here is an example of a QR code that has encrypted the [m] wordpress url:
